Getting braces isn’t what it used to be. Today’s options range from colorful to clear – the choice is yours. Dr. Kwong will work with you to discuss the best options. Here is an overview of the different types of braces we offer.
Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are still the most common type of braces. Dr. Kwong uses 3M Unitek metal braces, which are smaller, more comfortable, and more fashionable than ever before.
Ceramic Braces (Clear)
Clear braces are a popular choice for teens and adults who want to make a less noticeable statement and keep smiling, both during and after treatment. Ceramic braces are made of clear materials, which are less visible on your teeth compared to traditional metal braces. Although ceramic braces are less noticeable, they require greater attention to oral hygiene because they are larger and more brittle. As a result, ceramic braces are used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.
Invisible (Clear) Orthodontic Appliances
Invisalign®
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable aligners, so no one can tell that you’re wearing them. Since the Invisalign aligners are removable, you can eat and drink what you want during your treatment. Brushing and flossing are easier than with braces.
